This wind project, led by EDF Renewables and ESB , guarantees a positive impact on the reduction of polluting gas emissions.

Progress on the Neart na Gaoithe offshore wind farm

This project has the capacity to generate up to 450 MW of clean energy. Once completed, the park will consist of 54 wind turbines, which will contribute to reducing CO₂ emissions by more than 400,000 tons per year and supplying power to 375,000 homes.

The installation of the first turbines is the start of a long planning process, which is expected to be completed by the summer of 2025, when the park will be fully operational. According to Matthias Haag, project manager, this achievement is very important for the local communities, and therefore, the collaboration is expected to be mutual and constant.

Throughout its development, NnG has worked closely with local businesses such as Forth Ports in Dundee, boosting the local economy and creating jobs in the region. In total, up to 50 high-quality jobs are expected to be created over the 25-year life of the park.

The NnG park is contributing to the UK’s energy goals, and to community development. So far, it has supported 24 community projects in the east of Scotland, benefiting organisations such as the Berwickshire Marine Trust and Dunbar Youth Football Club . In addition, the creation of an operations base in Eyemouth has generated local employment, with 27 workers involved in the park’s current operations.

For Ryanne Burges, Director of Offshore at EDF Renewables , the success of the NnG project strengthens the company’s portfolio of renewable projects in the UK and Ireland. In the coming months, all turbines are expected to be operational, bringing more clean energy to the grid and helping Scotland lead the transition to a zero-emissions future.

Follow us on social media and don’t miss any of our posts!

Source and photo: EDF Renewables

[13026,13044

post-197663","noticias","type-noticias","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","categoria_noticias-energy","categoria_noticias-new-energies
["GET
