The terminal, the largest in Europe, has been awarded a \u201cB\u201d rating by MiQ, which will allow LNG buyers to select cargoes based on their emissions profile. This certification responds to the growing demand for transparency from natural gas consumers in Europe<\/a><\/strong> and the UK, who are seeking cleaner energy solutions. <\/p>\n\n

MiQ, renowned for its rigorous and transparent certification system, has verified Grain LNG<\/a><\/strong> \u2019s methane emissions, validating that the plant operates under the highest standards in terms of sustainability. Georges Tijbosch, CEO of MiQ, highlighted that this step is fundamental to increasing transparency in the global LNG supply chain. <\/p>\n\n

The certification also comes at a key time as Grain LNG expands its capacity to meet up to a third of the UK\u2019s gas demand. According to Ben Wilson, President of National Grid Ventures, this accreditation demonstrates the company\u2019s commitment to operational efficiency and leadership in emissions management. <\/p>\n\n

Europe tightens methane regulation and Grain responds<\/h2>\n\n

Methane emissions verification is a crucial tool in the transition to cleaner energy, especially in Europe, where methane emissions regulations are becoming more stringent. This certification will allow natural gas producers, both in Europe and the United States, to comply with EU requirements by 2027. <\/p>\n\n

Simon Culkin, Director of Grain LNG, was pleased with the accreditation<\/a><\/strong> , saying that the terminal, as well as being the largest in Europe, now also excels in emissions management. \u201c We are committed to transparency and sustainability<\/em> ,\u201d added Culkin, emphasising the importance of this verification for the industry.<\/p>\n\n

MiQ has certified up to 20% of U.S. natural gas production<\/a><\/strong> , and with its Supply Chain Protocol, the organization provides buyers with a clear estimate of the emissions associated with LNG. This facilitates more informed and sustainable decision-making in the global energy market. <\/p>\n\n
