HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (HD HHI) has developed the world\u2019s first high-pressure direct injection dual ammonia engine<\/strong> , known as the \u2018H22CDF-LA\u2019. This environmentally friendly engine, capable of operating on carbon-free ammonia, has received approval from seven major maritime classification societies: KR, ABS, BV, DNV, NK, LR and RINA. The success of this certification places the South Korean company at the forefront of sustainable shipping<\/a><\/strong> . <\/p>\n\n

Hyundai HD Dual Ammonia Engine Reduces Emissions<\/h2>\n\n

The engine, tested between September 30 and October 2 at the Ulsan technology center, represents a major breakthrough for the shipbuilding industry. Thanks to its innovative design, it is compatible with ammonia carriers as well as commercial vessels and land-based power plants<\/a><\/strong> . <\/p>\n\n

The H22CDF-LA<\/a><\/strong> is designed to minimize greenhouse gas emissions and effectively control the release of nitrogen oxides (NOx) and unburned ammonia in the exhaust gases, ensuring cleaner operation.<\/p>\n\n

This advancement in dual ammonia technology builds on the previous achievements of HD HHI, which launched the first dual methanol engine<\/a><\/strong> in 2022. Now, with the certification of this new engine<\/a><\/strong> , the company reinforces its position as a leader in sustainable innovation within the marine industry. <\/p>\n\n
