Source: Nikola Motor Company <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Purina reduces emissions in California with electric semi-trailer<\/h2>\n\n<p>On its first route, the truck is transporting popular Purina products, such as Tidy Cats cat litter, across three cities in the state: Stockton, Maricopa and Modesto. This effort is part of Purina&#8217;s overall strategy to reduce its <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/pemex-will-collaborate-with-the-epa-to-mitigate-greenhouse-gas-emissions\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"60403\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">greenhouse gas emissions<\/a><\/strong> while promoting innovation in the transportation sector. <\/p>\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nikolamotor.com\/tre-fcev\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.nikolamotor.com\/tre-fcev\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Nikola\u2019s Class 8 hydrogen truck<\/a><\/strong> has an impressive range of up to 500 miles and can refuel in less than 20 minutes. It also <strong>avoids the emission of approximately 97 metric tons of CO\u2082 per year<\/strong> , which is equivalent to taking 23 passenger vehicles off the road. Travis Krous, Purina\u2019s director of supply chain operations, said the test will help assess the feasibility of expanding the technology in the future.  <\/p>\n\n<p>In addition to the advancements in its transportation fleet, Purina has adopted sustainable practices in its production. At its Maricopa plant, the company uses <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/the-largest-school-solar-energy-system\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"188178\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">solar energy<\/a><\/strong> to dry the clay used in its cat litter.
