By taking advantage of carbon dioxide in the Martian atmosphere, this battery significantly reduces its weight, making it ideal for space missions. Source: ScienceDirect <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A battery for Mars with 1,375 hours of useful life<\/h2>\n\n<p>At a temperature of 0\u00b0C, the battery reaches an <strong>energy density of 373.9 Wh\/kg and a lifetime of 1,375 hours<\/strong> (two Martian months). Source: ScienceDirect <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n<p>The team of scientists also designed a <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurekalert.org\/news-releases\/1059550\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.eurekalert.org\/news-releases\/1059550\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">folded cell system<\/a><\/strong> and integrated electrodes that maximize the reaction area with the Martian atmosphere, allowing for <strong>higher energy density of 765 Wh\/kg and 630 Wh\/l in 4 cm\u00b2 cells<\/strong> .
