Shelf Drilling secures contracts for two of its offshore jack-up rigs in Nigeria<\/strong> , consolidating its leadership in West African offshore drilling<\/a><\/strong> . The Shelf Drilling Achiever rig has been awarded a three-year contract commencing in October 2024, with the option to extend for an additional two years. In addition, the Adriatic I rig has been awarded a two-year extension, commencing in February 2025, with the option for an additional year. <\/p>\n\n

Offshore platforms ensure growth in Africa<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n

The new contracts, worth US$234 million<\/strong> , strengthen Shelf\u2019s position in the shallow water drilling sector<\/a><\/strong> , particularly in the West African region. The Dubai-based, Oslo-listed company has long been known for its strong relationships with key energy industry players, enabling it to secure continued operations in key areas such as the Middle East, the Mediterranean and now Nigeria. <\/p>\n\n

The Shelf Drilling Achiever<\/a><\/strong> , a platform designed for complex offshore operations, will start operations in October 2024<\/strong> , contributing to operational growth in Africa. Meanwhile, the Adriatic I<\/a><\/strong> , which has had a long track record of reliable performance in the region, will extend its presence until 2027, offering stability and continuity to Shelf\u2019s customers. <\/p>\n\n

The company’s CEO, Greg O’Brien, highlighted that these contracts provide a significant order backlog for 2025 and beyond, providing long-term financial visibility and strengthening Shelf Drilling’s position in the offshore drilling market. He also emphasized that the successful execution of these operations will reinforce the company’s reputation for safety<\/strong> , operational efficiency and timeliness, key aspects to attract and retain major energy industry<\/a><\/strong> customers, particularly in strategic regions such as Nigeria. <\/p>\n\n
