RNZN divers are assessing the environmental impacts in the area where the ship is located at 30 metres depth. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">HMNZS Manawanui to be inspected by RNZN<\/h2>\n\n<p>Environmental assessment is critical due to the dispersion of a light layer of oil caused by the initial capsizing of the ship. Some support and response teams are working on containing and cleaning up the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/articulo\/oil-spills-the-tragedy-we-should-have-left-half-a-century-ago\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"articulo\" data-id=\"85744\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">oil spill<\/a><\/strong> . <\/p>\n\n<p>Leading New Zealand agencies, including <strong>Maritime New Zealand<\/strong> and wildlife experts from <strong>Massey University<\/strong> , are participating in the emergency response, along with the <strong>NZDF<\/strong> , which has deployed 28 personnel and high-tech equipment to assist with assessment and clean-up efforts in the affected area. <strong>Remotely operated vehicles<\/strong> and spill response teams have been deployed for both on-shore and on-water operations. In addition, the UK ship <strong>HMS Tamar<\/strong> is providing security and logistical support in the area.  <\/p>\n\n<p>Commander Shane Arndell, who is in charge of the operation, praised the inter-agency collaboration and progress in assessing the wreck. In the meantime, the site has been declared a &#8221; <em>no-go zone&#8221;<\/em> by Samoan authorities to ensure the safety of the rescue and clean-up operations.
