{"id":194169,"date":"2024-10-07T17:34:01","date_gmt":"2024-10-07T21:34:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/noticias\/cip-and-energy-storage-project\/"},"modified":"2024-10-07T18:56:40","modified_gmt":"2024-10-07T22:56:40","slug":"cip-and-energy-storage-project","status":"publish","type":"noticias","link":"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/cip-and-energy-storage-project\/","title":{"rendered":"CIP begins construction of an energy storage project in Chile"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners<\/strong> ( <em>CIP<\/em> ) has received the Final Investment Decision ( <em>FID<\/em> ) and is starting the construction and planning of an autonomous energy storage project, called &#8221; <em>Arena BESS<\/em> &#8220;, which is based on batteries that will have a capacity of approximately 220 MW \/ 1,100 MWh.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The CIP energy storage project<\/h2>\n\n<p>The <strong>Arena BESS project<\/strong> will be one of the first large-scale energy storage facilities in the country. It will be located in the Antofagasta region, an important area for solar power generation due to its excellent solar resource. In addition, the system will store excess solar energy generated during the day and release it during nighttime hours, allowing for a stable supply of renewable energy.  <\/p>\n\n<p>The project aims to support the integration of large-scale solar projects into the Chilean grid, helping to reduce CO\u2082 emissions in the region. <strong>BESS<\/strong> ( <em>battery storage system<\/em> ) technology will shift renewable energy generation to peak consumption times, making energy infrastructure more efficient. <\/p>\n\n<p>This is CIP\u2019s first energy storage project in Chile, but it is part of the company\u2019s broader strategy to invest in renewable energy across Latin America. Through its <strong>Growth Markets Fund II<\/strong> , CIP has reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable development and the creation of long-term <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/marine-wind-farm-vineyard-wind-1-gear\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">energy infrastructure<\/a><\/strong> in the region. <\/p>\n\n<p>CIP will continue to explore opportunities to expand its presence in the clean energy sector in Latin America.
