Nestl\u00e9 continues to move towards carbon neutrality by expanding the use of HVO fuel in its logistics chain.<\/strong> With the global goal of achieving net zero greenhouse gas<\/a><\/strong> emissions by 2050, the company has integrated the use of renewable HVO fuel in 42 trucks, covering various routes in Spain.<\/p>\n\n

Nestl\u00e9 bets on HVO fuel<\/h2>\n\n

HVO fuel<\/strong> , derived from used vegetable oils and other organic waste<\/a><\/strong> , has been key to Nestl\u00e9\u2019s decarbonisation strategy. Since the pilot project launched last year, the results have been very positive, achieving an 80% reduction in CO\u2082 emissions<\/a><\/strong> per kilometre travelled compared to fossil fuels. <\/p>\n\n

This initiative demonstrates our strong commitment to sustainability and the circular economy. The use of these biofuels<\/a><\/strong> has been extended to eight new logistics routes, significantly reducing our carbon footprint. <\/p>\n said Jordi Aycart, Head of Sustainability at Nestl\u00e9 Spain.<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n

Among the routes already being promoted by HVO are the transport of coffee and glass jars between the port of Barcelona and the Girona factory, as well as the route connecting the Nestl\u00e9 plant in Cantabria with the port of Tarragona. This advance will allow the company to avoid the emission of approximately 9,000 tons of CO\u2082 per year<\/a><\/strong> , reinforcing its leadership in the sustainable food sector. <\/p>\n\n
