{"id":189845,"date":"2024-09-20T16:19:45","date_gmt":"2024-09-20T20:19:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/noticias\/maersk-boosts-methanol-supply\/"},"modified":"2024-09-20T16:28:10","modified_gmt":"2024-09-20T20:28:10","slug":"maersk-boosts-methanol-supply","status":"publish","type":"noticias","link":"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/maersk-boosts-methanol-supply\/","title":{"rendered":"Maersk drives development of methanol sourcing standards in Japan"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Multinational shipping company Maersk continues its progress in the decarbonization of shipping by establishing itself as co-host of the <strong>first methanol bunkering simulation<\/strong> in Japan, held at the port of Yokohama.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Maersk methanol supply simulation<\/h2>\n\n<p>This test was organized in conjunction with <strong>Kokuka Sangyo<\/strong> and the support of the Japanese government.\nAn important event for the development of infrastructure, planning and the use of methanol as a sustainable fuel for the country. <\/p>\n\n<p>The <strong>tanker Alette Maersk<\/strong>, part of <strong>Maersk<\/strong>&#8216;s new fleet of dual-fuel <strong>tankers<\/strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/maersk-christened-its-first-green-methanol-vessel\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"99582\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Maersk&#8217;s new fleet of dual-fuel<\/a><\/strong> Maersk&#8217;s new dual-fuel fleet, participated in the simulation alongside the supply vessel Eikamaru.\nDuring the trial, critical operations such as docking and undocking were carried out, as well as the connection of hoses for <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/maersk-green-methanol-supply-agreement\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"110217\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">methanol supply hoses<\/a><\/strong>.\nThis exercise gathered valuable knowledge for the future implementation of bunkering procedures in Japan.  <\/p>\n\n<p>The initiative is in line with the Memorandum of Understanding signed between <strong>Maersk<\/strong>, the <strong>City of Yokohama<\/strong>and <strong>Mitsubishi Gas Chemical<\/strong> to develop methanol infrastructure in Japan.\nThis effort is supported by the Ports and Terminals Bureau of Japan&#8217;s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, which reinforces the importance of establishing methanol bunkering hubs at Japanese ports. <\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Maersk&#8217;<\/strong>s Northeast Asia Managing Director Toru Nishiyama noted that<em>&#8220;the company is committed to supporting Japan&#8217;s decarbonization goals<\/em>&#8221;
