Company LLC <strong>to convert six LNG carrier engines of Chevron Transport Corporation Ltd.<\/strong> from dual-fuel to combustion gas <strong>.<\/strong> \nThis project, which represents a breakthrough in the marine industry, is aimed at decreasing the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/articulo\/engineering-reduction-gas-emissions\/\" data-type=\"articulo\" data-id=\"73971\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">greenhouse gas emissions by reducing methane <\/a><\/strong>emissions by reducing the release of methane, a potent greenhouse gas. <\/p>\n\n<p>The engine conversion will enable a significant reduction in the carbon intensity of Chevron&#8217;s marine operations. <strong><a step forward in global efforts for cleaner shipping.  <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">SG Ship Engines: Solution to methane leakage<\/h2>\n\n<p>LNG, when used as a fuel, can release small amounts of unburned methane into the atmosphere.\nThis phenomenon, known as <em>&#8220;methane leakage,&#8221;<\/em> is a major environmental challenge.\nAlthough <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/can-animal-sterol-be-used-biomethane\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"180991\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">methane<\/a><\/strong> has a shorter lifetime in the atmosphere compared to CO\u2082, its ability to trap heat is 25 to 30 times greater over a 100-year period, making it a key target in reducing emissions.  <\/p>\n\n<p>W\u00e4rtsil\u00e4&#8217;s engine conversion project involves the conversion of existing engines to run on <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/h2-industries-converts-flue-gases-into-clean-hydrogen\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"57694\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">combustion gas
