After three days of intense activities, the XX Oil and Gas Marine Terminal Operators and Monobuoys Conference (SLOM) 2024<\/a><\/strong> (SLOM) 2024 was successfully concluded, leaving a strong impact on the maritime and energy<\/a><\/strong> and energy sector in Latin America and the world.\nThe event, which was held in Punta del Este, Uruguay, brought together more than 450 industry professionals<\/strong>, marking a milestone in the discussion on the energy transition<\/a><\/strong>sustainable technologies and safety in terminal operations. <\/p>\n\n

Key aspects of the 20th SLOM 2024 Conference<\/h2>\n\n

During the day, the collaboration and exchange of knowledge among the attendees were highlighted, an aspect that was emphasized by Francisco Barreto<\/a><\/strong>Francisco Barreto, president of SLOM, who said<\/a><\/strong> that this event reflected the efforts made over the past 20 years.\nMaritime terminals and their role in the energy transition, the application of advanced technologies and SLOM’s global expansion were some of the central topics. <\/p>\n\n

The event began on September 11 with the institutional presentation of ANCAP<\/a><\/strong> by Nicol\u00e1s Spinelli<\/a><\/strong>followed by the opening of the Business Showcase.\nDuring the first day, presentations focused on the importance of safety and operational efficiency in maritime terminals, highlighting the adoption of sustainable technologies.\nOCENSA and the Colombian Navy presented advances in simulation for the prevention of accidents on monobuoys<\/a><\/strong>The panel moderated by Diego Oro\u00f1o addressed the reconversion of oil infrastructure to the energies of the future. <\/p>\n\n

The second day was marked by presentations on energy efficiency and emissions management, the impact on the ship-terminal interface, and the implementation of new fuel handling technologies.\nPresentations explored transition technologies, highlighting the importance of decarbonization in terminal operations and the strategic role of hydrogen and other alternative fuels.\nThe day closed with a coffee break offered by TRANSPETRO<\/a><\/strong>where participants were able to share experiences and make valuable connections. <\/p>\n\n

The third day, September 13, was dedicated to the exploration of energy and sustainability projects.\nSantiago Ferro from ANCAP presented the ANCAP Group’s energy transition projects, while Ana Reyes and Jaime Collar from IDOM spoke about the strategic combination of hydrogen and marine terminals.\nThe day ended with a panel on oil infrastructure and its conversion to clean energy, moderated by Diego Orono.\nDuring the closing ceremony, SLOM’s 20th anniversary was commemorated, reaffirming the organization’s commitment to a cleaner and more sustainable energy future. <\/p>\n\n
