The company Genevos <\/strong>has been selected by Hydrocell <\/strong>to equip the first passenger boat to operate in Venice<\/strong>, using a hydrogen system.\nThe project will convert Nobody’s Perfect<\/em>, a former wooden fishing boat, into an eco-friendly transport model that will sail without emissions and reduce pollution in the “City of Canals”. <\/p>\n\n

A hydrogen passenger ship with history and a clean future<\/h2>\n\n

Built in 1978 in Bordeaux, France, Nobody’s Perfect<\/em> is one of the last wooden fishing boats used on the Atlantic coast.\nIts renovation with a hydrogen system<\/a><\/strong> system will prolong its useful life while contributing to the protection of the Venetian environment, a city affected by pollution from more than 2,000 motorized boats. <\/p>\n\n

Genevos will supply a hydrogen fuel cell system, certified for marine use, with a capacity of 40 kW, which will be integrated into the vessel.\nIn addition, a Hazard<\/strong> and Operability <\/strong> Study<\/strong>(HAZOP<\/em>) will be conducted to ensure a safe design.\nThis technology will enable Venice to move towards sustainable water transport, improving air quality and reducing health problems related to diesel emissions. <\/p>\n\n

The official announcement of the collaboration between Genevos and Hydrocell<\/strong> took place at the “SMM 2024 Fair” <\/strong>in Hamburg, one of the most important events in the maritime industry.\nThe project marks a milestone in the transition to clean energy in Venice and positions the city as an example of how the hydrogen technology<\/a><\/strong> technology can be applied to historic ships without compromising their heritage value. <\/p>\n\n

Karl Manfredi, CEO of Hydrocell<\/strong>, noted, “Our ship “Nobody’s Perfect” will be the first refitted passenger vessel to feature a fully integrated and certified marine hydrogen propulsion system.\nAs we only look for the best partners, Genevos was the best choice for us.” <\/em>.<\/p>\n\n

For his part, Philippe Davignon, Genevos<\/strong>‘ Sales Director, said: “We are excited to lead clean mobility in Venice and preserve the maritime heritage of this iconic city.\nWith our fuel cell technology, we will achieve more sustainable and efficient transportation. <\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n\n
