Vestas, one of the global leaders in wind energy, has secured its first order for offshore offshore turbines<\/a><\/strong> turbines in the United States.\nThe company will supply 54 V236-15.0 MW turbines for the<\/strong> Equinor-led Empire Wind 1<\/a> project<\/strong> to be developed off the coast of New York.\nThis 810 MW project represents an important step for the offshore wind energy industry in the United States and marks a milestone for the company in the offshore market. <\/p>\n\n

This request finalizes the conditional agreement that was announced announced<\/a><\/strong> in March 2024.<\/p>\n\n

About the order for the Empire Wind 1 project<\/h2>\n\n

The order includes delivery, installation and commissioning of the turbines, along with a comprehensive five-year service contract<\/strong>, ensuring optimal performance of the wind farm.\nThis contract has the potential to transform the South Brooklyn Marine Terminal<\/a><\/strong> (SBMT), which will be a key point for assembly and logistics activities related to the installation of the turbines. <\/p>\n\n

Laura Beane, president of Vestas North America, highlighted the importance of the project, stating that it is a crucial milestone for the expansion of the U.S. offshore market.\nand underscored the company’s commitment to clean energy solutions.\nThe partnership with Equinor is key to consolidating the advancement of offshore wind energy in the region. <\/p>\n\n
