{"id":186504,"date":"2024-09-09T10:45:58","date_gmt":"2024-09-09T14:45:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/noticias\/hycamite-and-the-methane-splitting-plant\/"},"modified":"2024-09-09T10:53:43","modified_gmt":"2024-09-09T14:53:43","slug":"hycamite-and-the-methane-splitting-plant","status":"publish","type":"noticias","link":"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/hycamite-and-the-methane-splitting-plant\/","title":{"rendered":"Hycamite inaugurates methane splitting plant for hydrogen production in Europe"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Hycamite TCD Technologies<\/strong>, a company specialized in advanced technology for emission-free methane splitting, announces in an official statement the inauguration of <strong>Europe&#8217;s largest methane splitting plant <\/strong>in Kokkola, Finland.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Hycamite&#8217;s methane splitting plant  <\/h2>\n\n<p>This facility, known as the <strong>Customer Sample Facility<\/strong><em>(CSF<\/em>), once fully operational, will reach a nominal production capacity of 2000 tons of low-carbon hydrogen and 6000 tons of high-quality carbon per year.<\/p>\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;Hycamite&#8217;s CSF establishes the viability of new methane splitting technology. Hycamite will open other methane splitting plants in other parts of the world in the future.&#8221;<\/p>\n<cite>Laura Rahikka, executive director of Hycamite,  <\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n<p>The <strong>CSF&#8217;s decarbonization capabilities<\/strong> could reach up to 18,000 tons of carbon dioxide (CO\u2082) annually, when liquefied natural gas<em>(LNG<\/em>) is used.\nNow, if biomethane is used, the hydrogen produced will be low-carbon, and it also becomes carbon-negative, removing more CO\u2082 than it emits during its production. <\/p>\n\n<p>The company&#8217;s technology <strong>allows the decomposition of large volumes of methane<\/strong>, reducing it to its basic components, such as hydrogen and carbon, avoiding the emission of polluting gases into the atmosphere.\nThe resulting clean hydrogen can be used as an industrial feedstock or as a fuel. <\/p>\n\n<p>One of the main energy advantages of this processing is the <strong>use of 13% of the energy needed for hydrogen production<\/strong> through electrolysis.\nThe <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/can-animal-sterol-be-used-biomethane\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"180991\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">use of methane<\/a><\/strong> as a feedstock, whether natural gas, biomethane or syngas, allows for a rapid increase in overall production. <\/p>\n\n<p>The <strong>new CSF<\/strong> is located close to Hycamite&#8217;s headquarters and small test facilities in the <strong>Kokkola Industrial Park<\/strong><em>(KIP<\/em>).\nThis park is the largest industrial ecosystem of the inorganic chemical industry in Northern Europe, where some leading companies in the chemical and metal processing sectors operate. <\/p>\n<div class=\" align\"><div
