The WindFloat Atlantic floating wind farm<\/strong>, operated by Ocean Winds<\/strong>, has managed to generate a total of 320 GWh of energy in its first four years of operation.\nOn the farm’s anniversary, it has managed to exceed initial expectations and goals.\nThis aspect strengthens and consolidates floating wind technology<\/strong> as a viable and sustainable solution for clean offshore energy generation. <\/p>\n\n

WindFloat Atlantic floating wind farm exceeds expectations<\/h2>\n\n

Since launching in 2020, the three floating turbines<\/strong> have provided enough energy to power more than 25,000 homes in Portugal.\nIn addition, the emission of more than 33,000 tons of CO\u2082 has been avoided, contributing to the fight against climate change. <\/p>\n\n

One of the highlights is the resilience of the<\/strong> floating wind<\/strong> farm<\/strong>.\nIn 2023, it experienced extreme weather conditions and withstood the Ciaran storm, with winds of 139 km\/h and waves up to 20 meters high, without affecting its operability. <\/p>\n\n

The energy project has had a positive impact on the local community of Viana do Castelo<\/strong>, creating 1,500 direct and indirect jobs.\nIn addition, the environmental impact on the marine ecosystem has been minimized, favoring biodiversity in the surrounding areas, following a healthy and friendly environmental coexistence. <\/p>\n
