interceptor was successfully launched from the<em>&#8220;Once in a Lifetime<\/em>&#8221; platform in the Gulf of Mexico. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/video-tv\/pozo-petrolero-golfo-de-mexico\/\" data-type=\"video-tv\" data-id=\"115618\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Gulf of Mexico<\/a><\/strong>demonstrating the feasibility of comprehensive hypersonic test services including airspace surveillance, telemetry and logistics support at sea.<\/p>\n\n<p>The operation, <strong>known as NRSD-1 or &#8220;Who&#8217;s Afraid of Lil Ol&#8217; Me,&#8221;<\/strong> was conducted about 30 miles south of the Mississippi coast.\nThis breakthrough represents a major step toward more frequent test campaigns needed for emerging technologies in the hypersonic arena.\nThe mission was accomplished in an astonishingly short time frame: less than seven months from conceptual Company <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">New hypersonic test range for deep sea missions<\/h2>\n\n<p>Tom Marotta, CEO of The Spaceport Company, highlighted the importance of this new maritime test site:  <\/p>\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>With this facility, we not only alleviate the burden on government camps, but also provide a unique offshore environment that land-based facilities cannot replicate.  <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n<p>Marotta thanked <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.evolutionspace.com\/post\/sea-launch-success-evolution-space-provides-rocket-as-the-spaceport-company-inaugurates-new-hyperso\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Evolution Space<\/a><\/strong> and other collaborating entities such as the Defense Innovation Unit and the Coast Guard for their support in carrying out the mission.<\/p>\n\n<p>The launch platform used, acquired in February 2024, is complemented by highly specialized ground support equipment designed to withstand extreme maritime conditions.\nThis infrastructure <strong>allows The Spaceport to operate in any launch azimuth<\/strong>, providing flexibility for future missions in oceans such as the Atlantic and Pacific. <\/p>\n\n<p>This breakthrough marks a technological success and highlights the potential of offshore hypersonic launches as a key enabler for future national security missions and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/video-tv\/hibernacion-espacial-en-el-espacio\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"video-tv\" data-id=\"151185\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">commercial space<\/a><\/strong>
