Boat by Thames Clippers launches its third hybrid ferry: Mars Clipper

Uber Boat by Thames Clippers has welcomed its third hybrid passenger ferry, the Mars Clipper, which is now sailing the waters of the River Thames. This modern catamaran, built by Wight Shipyard, joins the other two hybrid vessels in the fleet, Earth Clipper and Celestial Clipper, as part of the company’s commitment to sustainability and the emissions reduction.

Technical characteristics and design of the catamaran

The ferry is powered by a hybrid system developed in collaboration with Danfoss Power Solutions, which enables a remarkable 90% reduction inCO2 emissions compared to conventional river transport methods.
In addition, this ferry can operate exclusively on electric power, recharging its batteries while using biofuel during its travels. <a href="https://inspenet.com/en/news/ship-sornes-in-norway-biofuels/" data-type="link" data-id="https://inspenet.com/noticias/buque-stornes-en-noruega-biocombustibles/" recharging its batteries while using biofuel during its journeys, thus achieving an additional 16.5% reduction in emissions per vessel.

The cockpit is located in an elevated position, providing a clear view of the river and improved maneuverability.
It is equipped with large panoramic windows along its structure, allowing passengers to enjoy unobstructed views of the River Thames while traveling, and has several passenger entrances and exits designed to facilitate fast and efficient boarding and disembarking.

It also has accessible areas for people with reduced mobility.
Its shape is elegant, with sleek lines that minimize water resistance, which contributes to its energy efficiency.

Collins highlights the arrival of the hybrid ferry

Sean Collins, CEO of Uber Boat by Thames Clippers, expressed his pride in the addition of the Mars Clipper and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to making London a global benchmark in sustainable river transportation.

<blockquote class="wp-block-quote is-layout-flow
