successfully completed its second flight at the Mojave Air and Space Port in California.\nThis flight, which follows the historic first flight in March 2024, marks an important step in Boom Supersonic&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/articulo\/aircraft-non-destructive-testing-aviation\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/articulo\/aeronaves-ensayos-no-destructivos-aviacion\/\"><strong>test program<\/strong><\/a> which seeks to reintroduce commercial supersonic flight with the Overture aircraft. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Features of XB-1<\/h2>\n\n<p>The aircraft <strong>is approximately 21 meters (68 feet) long<\/strong>, with a wingspan of 5.2 meters (17 feet).\nIt is constructed of carbon fiber composites, which are lighter and stronger than traditional materials such as aluminum.   <\/p>\n\n<p>It uses three General Electric J85-15 turbojet engines, which are designed for supersonic operations.\nAlthough it is a demonstrator and is not designed for regular flight, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/xb-1-boom-permission-to-exceed-mach-1\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/noticias\/xb-1-de-boom-permiso-para-superar-el-mach-1\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the XB-1 can reach speeds in excess of Mach 1<\/a><\/strong>that is, it can fly faster than the speed of sound.   <\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.inspenet.com\/despeje-del-segundo-vuelo-1024x576.webp\" alt=\"XB-1\" class=\"wp-image-183624\" style=\"width:549px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cdn.inspenet.com\/despeje-del-segundo-vuelo-1024x576.webp 1024w, https:\/\/cdn.inspenet.com\/despeje-del-segundo-vuelo-300x169.webp 300w, https:\/\/cdn.inspenet.com\/despeje-del-segundo-vuelo-768x432.webp 768w, https:\/\/cdn.inspenet.com\/despeje-del-segundo-vuelo-1536x864.webp 1536w, https:\/\/cdn.inspenet.com\/despeje-del-segundo-vuelo-624x351.webp 624w, https:\/\/cdn.inspenet.com\/despeje-del-segundo-vuelo.webp 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Second flight clearance.\nSource: boomsupersonic <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Stability and aerodynamics test<\/h2>\n\n<p>During this second test, <strong>the landing gear was successfully extended and retracted for the first time<\/strong>, fulfilling one of the essential objectives of the test.\nIn addition, the Boom team evaluated the aircraft&#8217;s handling qualities and activated a digital stability system, designed to improve the flight experience based on lessons learned during the first flight.   <\/p>\n\n<p>The flight lasted approximately 15 minutes, during which time the aircraft reached an altitude of 10,400 feet and a speed of 232 knots (277 mph).<\/p>\n\n<p>An innovative element of this flight <strong>was the application of &#8220;tufting&#8221;
