COSCO Unveil Innovative LCO2 Tech for Carbon Capture Transport"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Knutsen NYK Carbon Carriers AS<\/strong><em>(KNCC<\/em>), a joint venture between <strong>NYK Line<\/strong> and <strong>Knutsen Group<\/strong>, has signed an agreement with COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry<em>(CHI<\/em>) to develop a liquefied carbon dioxide<em>(LCO2<\/em>) carrier based on LCO2-Elevated Pressure<em>(LCO2-EP<\/em>) technology.  <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The conveyor with LCO2-EP technology<\/h2>\n\n<p>The LCO2 design for future carriers will be developed under a joint study supported by <strong>KNCC<\/strong>&#8216;s patented <em>LCO2-EP<\/em> technology, specifically to facilitate direct offshore injection<em>(DIO<\/em>).\nThis method offers an advantage for <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/petrobras-digital-platform-gis-ccus-brazil\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"180263\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CCUS projects<\/a><\/strong>projects by simplifying offshore operation and reducing costs by eliminating the need for onshore or floating export infrastructure. <\/p>\n\n<p><strong>KNCC<\/strong> CEO Oliver Hagen-Smith highlighted the importance of this collaboration with CHI, stressing that<strong> LCO2-EP technology<\/strong> is ideal for offshore direct injection operations due to its lower energy demand and operational simplicity compared to other cryogenic technologies.<em>&#8220;Our owners have extensive experience in offshore operations, which will contribute to the success of this initiative<\/em>,&#8221; said Hagen-Smith.<\/p>\n\n<p>For his part, Shi Wei, executive in charge of <strong>CHI<\/strong>&#8216;s business, expressed his enthusiasm for this collaboration, stating that the unique design of the <strong>LCO2 direct injection vessel<\/strong> represents a breakthrough for the shipping industry and the reduction of CO2 emissions.<em>&#8220;We are excited to work together with KNCC on this innovative project that could transform CO2 transportation and storage<\/em>,&#8221;
