Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey, along with other state and local leaders, participated in the groundbreaking ceremony for Salem’<\/strong> s new offshore wind terminal<\/a>.<\/strong> This project, led by Crowley Wind Services, marks a crucial step forward in the transformation of a former fossil power plant into a specialized wind energy port<\/strong> designed to support the development of wind farms in New England and, in the future, floating turbines in the Gulf of Maine.<\/p>\n\n

Massachusetts moves forward in renewable energy with Salem offshore wind terminal<\/h2>\n\n

The terminal, which will begin operating in 2026<\/strong>, represents a strategic investment in the state’s energy infrastructure, positioning Massachusetts as a leader in the renewable energy industry. renewable energy<\/a><\/strong>.\nDW White JF White has been contracted as the lead construction contractor, in collaboration with local unions, to ensure that the workforce is largely drawn from the community. <\/p>\n\n

This project will boost the local economy through job creation and strengthen Massachusetts’ ability to meet its ambitious climate goals. <\/p>\n\n

This is a proud moment for Salem and for the entire state.<\/p>\nsaid Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll, highlighting the historical and environmental significance of this transformation.<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n

The terminal will provide about 150 jobs during construction and several more during operation,<\/strong> underscoring the commitment of Crowley<\/a><\/strong> to the local community and long-term sustainability.\nIn addition, key partnerships have been established with local educational institutions to ensure the next generation of workers are prepared for the challenges and opportunities presented by the offshore wind energy<\/a><\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n
