Ameresco, Inc. a leading clean technology integrator specializing in renewable energy and energy efficiency, has been selected by the Wasatch Integrated Waste Management District (WIWMD) to design, build and operate a renewable natural gas<\/a> (RNG) plant<\/a> at the Davis Landfill<\/strong>, located in Layton, Utah.<\/p>\n\n

This project, the second of its kind between Ameresco and WIWMD, highlights the commitment of both organizations to sustainable solutions for the waste management<\/a><\/strong>.\nThe plant will capture methane gas generated by the decomposition of organic waste, converting it into a renewable energy source capable of reducing more than 953 million pounds of carbon dioxide emissions per year.<\/strong> This reduction is equivalent to removing more than 79,000 cars from the road or planting more than 98,000 acres of forest. <\/p>\n\n

Ameresco leads renewable natural gas plant project<\/h2>\n\n

The construction and operation of the plant will be the full responsibility of the company, which will be responsible for the design, engineering and commissioning of the project. The Davis RNG plant is expected to replace more than 8 million BTUs of fossil fuels annually<\/strong>, reinforcing the transition to cleaner, more sustainable energy.<\/p>\n\n

Michael Bakas, the company’s executive vice president, stressed the importance of taking advantage of waste by-products to reduce dependence on fossil fuels <\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n

For his part, Nathan Rich, executive director of WIWMD, highlighted the importance of converting an environmental liability into a renewable energy source. <\/p>\n\n

This project represents an excellent way to fulfill the district’s mission, which is to manage waste in a sustainable manner while generating clean energy for the community. <\/p>\nRich stated.<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n
