SBM Offshore<\/strong> has signed a major contract with Woodside<\/strong> Energy<\/strong> for the construction and lease of a floating storage and offloading(FSO<\/em>) unit to be used in the development of the Trion oil field and project<\/strong>, located in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico. <\/p>\n\n

The Trion oil project<\/h2>\n\n

This contract, which extends over a 20-year period, is a supplement to a previous agreement for the transportation and installation of the FSO<\/strong> and floating production unit<\/strong>(FPU<\/em>), awarded to SBM Offshore in 2023.<\/p>\n\n

The new FSO will be based on a Suezmax-type hull design and will feature a state-of-the-art disconnectable turret mooring<\/strong>(DTM<\/em>) system<\/strong> designed by SBM Offshore.\nThis unit will be installed at a water depth of approximately 2,500 meters, with the capacity to store up to 950,000 barrels of crude oil.\nThe Trion field<\/strong>, operated by Woodside with a 60% participation, in collaboration with PEMEX Exploraci\u00f3n y Producci\u00f3n (40%), is located 180 km off the Mexican coast, near the maritime border with the United States. <\/p>\n\n

The Trion project<\/a><\/strong> project is vital to Woodside and SBM Offshore because it represents the expansion of offshore energy operations in the region.\n SBM <\/strong>Offshore’s ability <\/strong>to design, build and operate<\/strong> this critical infrastructure reinforces its position as a leader in the offshore energy industry, contributing to the safe and sustainable production of offshore oil and gas. <\/p>\n\n
