{"id":179684,"date":"2024-08-17T13:23:00","date_gmt":"2024-08-17T17:23:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/?p=179684"},"modified":"2025-08-12T10:45:05","modified_gmt":"2025-08-12T14:45:05","slug":"demonstration-plant-ox1-oxford-airport","status":"publish","type":"noticias","link":"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/demonstration-plant-ox1-oxford-airport\/","title":{"rendered":"OXCCU celebrated the inauguration of the OX1 demonstration plant at Oxford airport"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>OXCCU, a pioneer in the conversion of carbon dioxide into sustainable fuels, has taken a significant step forward with the <strong>opening of its OX1 demonstration plant at Oxford Airport.<\/strong> This facility represents a key breakthrough in the production of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/sustainable-aviation-fuel-water\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"116152\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sustainable aviation fuels (SAF)<\/a><\/strong>, using an innovative process developed over more than a decade of research at Oxford University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">OX1 demonstration plant produces PBS in a single step<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This process directly converts carbon dioxide (CO\u2082) and hydrogen (H2) into long-chain hydrocarbons using an advanced catalyst.\nThis technology <strong>makes it possible to produce 1 kilogram of liquid fuel per day,<\/strong> which is equivalent to approximately 1.2 liters of PBS.\nThe plant, which will begin operating in September 2024, <strong>is the first in the world to perform this conversion in a single step<\/strong>, setting a new industry standard.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">OXCCU and its expansion plans<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>OX1 plant<\/strong> is crucial for PBS production and will provide valuable data for OXCCU&#8217;s upcoming expansion. <strong>The company plans to build a much larger plant, OX2, at Saltend Chemical Park in Hull<\/strong>,<strong> with a capacity of 160 kg of PBS per day by 2026.<\/strong> This strategy positions the company as a leader in the production of sustainable fuels, ready to supply both the UK and international markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Andrew Symes, CEO of OXCCU, has expressed his enthusiasm for this achievement, highlighting the importance of this technology in reducing PAS costs and its impact on the environment.
