Catalyze, a company with vast experience in renewable energy development and production, has announced the launch of its first stand-alone battery energy storage(BESS<\/em>) project in the Bronx, New York.<\/p>\n\n

The energy storage project<\/h2>\n\n

This project is one of the first of its kind to be completed and receive full approval under New York City’s new permitting process, which has been updated to facilitate the implementation of energy storage technologies.<\/p>\n\n

The Catalyze project<\/strong> will benefit from incentives provided by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority.\nThis support will allow electricity to be supplied to the local power grid through the Value of Distributed Energy Resources<\/strong>(VDER<\/em>) agreement. <\/p>\n\n

At startup, the system is actively contributing to the energy supply. energy supply<\/a><\/strong> during seasonal peak demand, using 4 Tesla MegaPacks with a total capacity of 4.29 MW \/ 8.58 MWh.\nIn addition, another impressive aspect was the execution of the project, which was carried out from its construction phase to operation in only 171 working days. <\/p>\n\n

Commitment to innovation and climate goals<\/h2>\n\n

Catalyze CEO Jared Haines highlighted the importance of this project as part of the company’s commitment to innovation in energy storage technology.\nHaines mentioned that New York City will need to implement renewable energy solutions to meet its climate goals.\nIn addition, the company is proud to collaborate with local authorities to develop and implement renewable energy projects. <\/p>\n\n

Moreover, this project is aligned with New York State’s goal of installing six gigawatts of energy storage capacity by 2030, as well as the city’s goal of reducing itsgreenhouse gas (GHG<\/em>) emissions by more than 80% by 2050.\nCatalyze’s presence in New York continues to expand, as evidenced by the recent securing of $100 million in financing from NY Green Bank<\/strong> and the commissioning of two additional projects in Lancaster <\/strong>and Amherst <\/strong>over the past year. <\/p>\n\n
