Petrobras has confirmed the success of its operation in the Uchuva-2 well<\/a>,<\/strong> located in deep water off the coast of Colombia.\nThis announcement follows the company’s communication, which reported the discovery of gas<\/strong> in the Uchuva-1 well. <\/p>\n\n

The Uchuva-2 well, which spudded on June 19, 2024, has confirmed the magnitude of the original discovery, providing crucial data for the development of a new exploration and production frontier in the region. <\/p>\n\n

Located 31 kilometers off the Colombian coast and at a water depth of 804 meters, this well is part of a consortium operated by Petrobras <\/strong>(44.44% interest) in association with Ecopetrol (55.56% interest).<\/p>\n\n

Gas discovery in Uchuva-2 well confirmed<\/h2>\n\n

During the fourth phase of drilling the well, the presence of a gas producing interval was verified through electrical profiles, which will be subjected to laboratory analysis for detailed characterization. These operations are aligned with the company’s long term strategy of<\/a> <\/strong>of <\/strong>the company, which seeks to expand its oil and gas reserves by exploring new frontiers <\/strong>and strategic partnerships, thus guaranteeing energy supply in a context of global energy transition.<\/p>\n\n

Completion of the well drilling and full characterization of the reservoirs encountered are expected by the end of 2024, when a formation test will be conducted that will provide additional information on the potential of these resources.<\/p>\n\n

This discovery reinforces Colombia’s position as a key player in the natural gas industry in Latin America<\/strong>, and underscores the company’s technical capability and commitment to developing exploration projects in complex and challenging environments.<\/p>\n\n
