Rovco has secured a contract to carry out site characterization operations for the Green Volt floating offshore wind farm<\/strong>, located 80 km east of Peterhead, Scotland.\nThis project, which is expected to be fully operational in 2029, promises to become one of the largest floating wind farms in the world. <\/p>\n\n

This project is being developed by Flotation Energy and V\u00e5rgr\u00f8nn<\/strong>, a joint venture that aims to generate enough green energy to power several oil and gas platforms in the Outer Moray Firth (OWF) area, reaching a capacity of 560 MW.\nIn addition, the project will have a positive impact on the local economy by strengthening the supply chain and improving skills in the floating offshore wind energy sector in Scotland. <\/p>\n\n

The main focus of the project will be on conducting geophysical surveys in the OWF matrix as well as in the offshore and nearshore export cable corridors.\nSurface piezocone penetration testing(PCPT<\/em>) and vibrocoring will also be carried out. <\/p>\n\n

Geophysical operations will be conducted on the DP2 research vessel, the Glomar Supporter, which will commence operations from Aberdeen in July 2024.\nThese surveys will be instrumental in designing the anchorages for the floating turbines, which will facilitate Green Volt’s accelerated development towards its goal of becoming a large floating wind farm.<\/a><\/strong> <\/p>\n\n
