TVEL, the fuels subsidiary of ROSATOM<\/a><\/strong>has started the execution of the contract for the supply of nuclear fuel to units 3 and 4 of the Kudankulam nuclear power plant <\/strong>. This contract covers the entire operating life of these units, starting from the first fuel load into the reactors.\nThe above-mentioned units, equipped with Russian-designed VVER-1000 reactors, are currently under construction in southern India. <\/p>\n\n

The introduction of this new fuel has also allowed the reactors’ operating cycles to be extended from 12 to 18 months, which optimizes the plant’s economic efficiency.\nWith these extended fuel cycles, the power units need to stop less frequently to refuel, which increases annual energy production.\nThis represents a significant advance for the nuclear industry in the region. <\/p>\n\n
