The Ministry of Mines and Energy(MME<\/em>) has inaugurated Colombia’s First Energy Municipality, a hybrid generation plant that will supply constant energy to Cumaribo, in the state of Vichada.\nThis project will benefit more than 1,350 families, an important Colombian community. <\/p>\n\n

This power plant, the largest built by the Instituto de Planificaci\u00f3n y Promoci\u00f3n de Soluciones Energ\u00e9ticas<\/strong>(IPSE<\/em>), an entity attached to the Ministry, is located in Colombia’s Non-Interconnected Zones.\nWith an investment of more than 20 billion pesos, the project includes a 1.4 MW solar field with 3094 solar panels of 460Wp each, a 1408 kWh lithium battery bank consisting of 160 batteries of 87.6 VDC each, and three diesel backup plants. <\/p>\n\n

During the inauguration ceremony, the Minister of Mines and Energy, Andres Camacho, declared: “Ehis is not a favor, it is a right of the municipality and the community of Cumaribo.\nWe are correcting decades of neglect by the State towards these municipalities. <\/em>“. In addition, the minister emphasized that the current government is focusing its investments on the areas most in need, helping to repair the damage caused by years of neglect.<\/p>\n\n

In addition, Camacho mentioned Cumaribo’s commitment to crop substitution, mentioning that 96% of its inhabitants have participated in this process to transform their territory.\nThe electric power projects and public<\/a><\/strong> projects and public investments are vital for peace and exemplify efforts towards a just energy transition. <\/p>\n\n

With a total investment of more than 20 billion pesos, 160 batteries and more than 3 thousand solar panels, this project provides 24 hours of energy<\/strong>, representing development, rights and new opportunities for these municipalities.\nCamacho also announced the creation of a line of credit with public banks to finance the construction of another 240 similar energy municipalities throughout the country. <\/p>\n\n
