This introduction to the U.S. market follows the February announcement of the Joint Development Agreement<\/strong>(JDA<\/em>) between New Way and Hyzon.\nThis agreement details both companies’ industry expertise to develop an emission-free waste collection solution. <\/p>\n\n

Hyzon CEO Parker Meeks mentioned that the strategic partnership with New Way has resulted in the creation of a landmark vehicle to eliminate emissions in an industry that is difficult to decarbonize.“This details that our shared mission is to provide waste collection fleets in North America, under alternative energy solutions, that meet the requirements of zero pollutant gas emissions and perform the hard daily work of a garbage truck<\/em>,” Meeks said.<\/p>\n\n

Through this collaboration, Hyzon and New Way Trucks have made the hydrogen<\/a><\/strong> fuel cell electric waste collection vehicle<\/strong> a reality for the North American waste and recycling industry.\nMeanwhile, New Way Trucks sales director Don Ross highlighted the company’s unique position in building high-performance waste collection equipment in today’s market and how this allows them to offer a sustainable alternative energy solution. <\/p>\n\n

The specifications of the collection truck<\/h2>\n\n

The specifications and concept of the hydrogen-powered<\/strong> electric waste collection vehicle include Hyzon’s high performance, sufficient to provide constant power for more than 125 miles, including up to 1,200 container lifts and trips to the transfer station.<\/p>\n\n

Plus, with the strength and durability of New Way’s most sought-after automated side loader, the Sidewinder XTR, a smooth-operating boom with a reach of up to 12 feet and a large 6-cubic-yard hopper, this vehicle possesses unstoppable, sustainable<\/strong> refuse collection power<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

Moreover, both companies anticipate further technological and performance development with the Class 8 FCEV as more information is obtained and gathered during customer applications and demonstrations to be conducted throughout 2024.<\/p>\n\n

Recology, the “acid test” with real routes<\/h2>\n\n

The truck will be tested on routes in California<\/strong>, starting with Recology, the San Francisco-based collection company.\nRecology is an employee-owned solid waste and recycling collection and processing company committed to sustainable operations. <\/p>\n\n

The company has demonstrated its commitment to sustainable transportation, having recently achieved its goal of powering its fleet with more than 90% renewable or alternative fuels.\nAnd so it has seen the demonstration of this hydrogen-powered truck as an opportunity to be at the forefront of the industry’s decarbonization. <\/p>\n\n
