The president of the Government of Arag\u00f3n, Jorge Azc\u00f3n, announced a new regulation that will prohibit the installation of floating photovoltaic panels<\/a> in the region’s reservoirs <\/strong>. This announcement was made in Lanuza, a town in the Huesca Pyrenees, during an act of rejection of the installation of such panels. Azc\u00f3n was accompanied by the mayor of Sallent de G\u00e1llego, Jes\u00fas Geric\u00f3, and the president of the Provincial Council of Huesca, Isaac Claver. <\/p>\n\n

Azc\u00f3n defends Lanuza’s landscape from photovoltaic panels<\/h2>\n\n

Azc\u00f3n recalled that on July 9, the Council of Ministers approved a royal decree regulating the installation of floating photovoltaic panels on reservoirs<\/strong>, affecting 14 reservoirs in Arag\u00f3n, including Lanuza. This reservoir, considered an “idyllic landscape”, is the setting for the renowned Pirineos Sur Festival and various sailing activities, where the installation of panels would be “an aberration”. <\/p>\n\n

In response, Azc\u00f3n emphasized that all the legal services of the Autonomous Community will work for the regulation to see the light as soon as possible. In his words, “neither do we want floating photovoltaic panels on the waters of our reservoirs, nor are we willing to let them install them without moving<\/em>“, describing the situation as an “injustice”. <\/p>\n\n

For Azc\u00f3n, the commitment of the Minister of Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge, Teresa Ribera, for these facilities shows a lack of knowledge of the idiosyncrasies of the Tena Valley and the economic consequences for the area. Environmental and economic impact<\/h2>\n\n

Jes\u00fas Geric\u00f3, mayor of Sallent de G\u00e1llego, expressed a “resounding no” to the installation of photovoltaic panels on the Lanuza reservoir, highlighting the effort of the inhabitants in rebuilding the area after having abandoned it in 1978. He assured that the Town Council will use all available tools to prevent the installation. <\/p>\n\n

For his part, Isaac Claver called for the preservation of natural resources and the natural resources<\/a><\/strong> against “aberrations” such as the installation of floating slabs in Lanuza, as well as in other reservoirs in the region such as B\u00fabal, El Grado, San Salvador, Sotonera, among others.<\/p>\n\n
