lowers hydrogen production costs with AI software

ZeroAvia has introduced innovative artificial intelligence-based optimization software for smart microgrids designed to significantly reduce the costs associated with hydrogen production, both for applications in clean aviation and other sectors.
This development promises to transform the way hydrogen is produced, making it more affordable and accessible.

AI Software Promises Cheaper Hydrogen Production

In addition, the technology, called Software Smart Hydrogen Production with Artificial Intelligence (SHAIPS), has shown a greater than 20% decrease in the levelized cost of hydrogen (LCOH) versus conventional methods.
This was demonstrated through tests on a prototype microgrid in California, equipped with elements such as solar powerstorage, battery storage, electrolyzers and gaseous hydrogen tanks.

These tests have also confirmed many of the theoretical assumptions, demonstrating the feasibility of the software for efficient and sustainable production of hydrogen.

The software allows producers to set thresholds for the carbon intensity of their hydrogen production, which could make them eligible for more substantial subsidies depending on their geographic location.
With this technology, excess renewable energy can be converted into hydrogen, stored in batteries or even sold to the grid. electricity gridthus optimizing the use of resources and reducing the carbon footprint.

U.S. and EU bet on hydrogen

On the policy front, decisive steps are being taken in both the United States and the European Union to encourage low-cost hydrogen production.
For example, the U.S. Department of Energy aims to achieve a cost of one dollar per kilogram of hydrogen by the end of the year. aims to achieve a cost of one dollar per kilogram of hydrogen by 2030, with a $7 billion investment in hydrogen centers, according to the energy newspaper.
For its part, the EU has implemented mandates for the construction of hydrogen stations and has created a Hydrogen Bank to financially support the projects.

Val Miftakhov, CEO of ZeroAvia, highlighted the disruptive potential of this technology, stressing that the cost of hydrogen will inevitably fall over time, but that his company seeks to accelerate this process through significant innovations.
SHAIPS optimizes hydrogen production and also extends the lifetime of the components involved, thereby reducing overall costs and carbon intensity.

SHAIPS and the vision of ZeroAvia

The team behind SHAIPS has been part of previous innovative projects, such as Juice.net, which received multiple accolades for its ability to balance demand and supply in the U.S. electric grid.
Looking ahead to 2025, ZeroAvia plans to deploy fuel cell propulsion systems and has already begun to establish the necessary infrastructure with its airport hydrogen refueling ecosystem.

Follow us on social networks and don’t miss any of our publications!

<a
