The major company JERA has set a milestone in the shipping industry with the world’<\/strong>s first<\/strong> truck-to-ship<\/strong> ammonia supply<\/strong>, a fact made to NYK Line’s tug A-Tug.<\/p>\n\n

First ammonia supply for zero emissions by 2050<\/h2>\n\n

This event was held at Honmoku Pier in Yokohama Port in anticipation of the completion of the A-Tug by the end of August 2024. This type of ammonia was produced by Resonac Corporation in Kawasaki, using plastic waste as raw material.<\/p>\n\n

Given the toxicity of ammonia, JERA implemented strict safety measures in collaboration with NYK and Resonac. Protocols were established for the safe safe handling of ammonia<\/a><\/strong>including transportation and reception in the port area, as well as contingency measures in case of leakage. These efforts underscore the importance of safety in energy innovations.<\/p>\n\n

This project is part of the JERA Zero CO2 Emissions 2050 initiative. JERA Zero CO2 Emissions 2050<\/a><\/strong>initiative, which seeks to achieve zero net CO\u2082 emissions in its operations by 2050. The use of ammonia as a fuel represents a decarbonization solution that transcends the energy sector, contributing to the reduction of emissions in other industrial sectors.<\/p>\n\n
