DNV has been selected to carry out the verification of the power curve at Iberdrola’s offshore wind farm<\/a><\/strong>. <\/a>in the Bay of St. Thomas. Brieuc, France, using advanced gondola lidar technology.<\/p>\n\n

Located 16 km from Cape Fr\u00e9hel, in the bay of Saint-Brieuc, in the department of C\u00f4tes-d’Armor, this park stands out as the first large-scale offshore wind farm in Brittany<\/strong> and the second in all of France dedicated to the production of renewable energy.<\/p>\n\n

Developed by Ailes Marines, a subsidiary of Iberdrola, the 62-turbine wind farm began operating in May 2024. With a total installed capacity of 496 MW, it is anticipated that the wind farm will significantly increase the supply of clean energy. \n clean energy<\/a>\n<\/strong> in the region, providing enough green electricity for approximately 835,000 households, representing 9% of the region’s total consumption.<\/p>\n\n

Keys to efficiency at Iberdrola’s offshore wind farm<\/h2>\n\n

\n DNV’s power curve verification project includes the design, commissioning and implementation of a power performance measurement (PPM) campaign for three turbines.<\/a>\n<\/strong>commissioning and implementation of a power performance measurement (PPM) campaign for three turbines, as well as the installation of all the necessary equipment to ensure that the campaign meets accreditation standards.<\/p>\n\n

Prior to implementation, the lidars will be calibrated at DNV’s testing facility in Germany to comply with the updated IEC 61400-50-3:2022 standard. This standard allows the use of nacelle mounted lidars (NML) in performance evaluations, an area in which DNV has vast experience.<\/p>\n\n

The verification of the power curve will allow Iberdrola to align the actual energy production with the initial projections, improving the accuracy of the wind farm economic models. \n wind farm<\/a>\n<\/strong>.
