This project is based on the Norwegian government&#8217;s initiative to reduce emissions from the main ships operating on the complex route between the mainland and the Lofoten Islands.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The design of hydrogen-powered Ferries<\/h2>\n\n<p>Torghatten Nord A\/S won the tender to operate the ferry on the route &#8216;Bod\u00f8 &#8211; V\u00e6r\u00f8y &#8211; R\u00f8st &#8211; Moskenes&#8217; in northern Norway. As part of this project, two new RoPax vessels, designed by <strong>The Norwegian Ship Design Company<\/strong>, will be phased in, with hulls built by Cemre Shipyard in Turkey and subsequently towed to Myklebust Shipyard in Norway for full outfitting. For example, all hydrogen <strong>\n  <a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/students-hydrogen-boat-northern-sea\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"152645\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">hydrogen equipment<\/a>\n<\/strong> will be installed in Norway, and both vessels, which will use compressed green hydrogen as fuel, will be delivered to Torghatten Nord A\/S in 2026.<\/p>\n\n<p>Torghatten Nord A\/S COO Eirik Olsen expressed his enthusiasm with the agreement: &#8220;<em>We are very pleased to have signed this contract with MAN Cryo. Through this agreement, we expanded our collaboration, which initially focused on LNG, to also include hydrogen.<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Gjermund Johannessen<\/strong>, managing director of The Norwegian Ship Design Company, added: &#8220;<em>We have collaborated with MAN Cryo on several projects in the past and recognize their innovative and solution-oriented approach.
