These comprise four wind farms and eight photovoltaic plants, which when added together would result in a capacity of 596 megawatts (MW).<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Increasing renewable capacity<\/h2>\n\n<p>Amazon will reach almost 3 GW in renewable<strong> energy capacity <\/strong>in the country. The company currently has a total of 79 projects in Spain, including <strong>9 wind farms, 40 photovoltaic plants and 30 self-consumption installations<\/strong> in its official buildings. Globally, however, the company manages more than 500 renewable energy projects.<\/p>\n\n<p>Each of these projects will supply Amazon&#8217;s operations in Spain, such as its <strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/amazon-data-center-with-nuclear-energy\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"136255\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Amazon Web Services (<em>AWS<\/em>)<\/a> logistics and data centers<\/strong> as well as its corporate offices and physical stores. This deployment of renewable infrastructure is already supplying energy to these facilities, contributing to the reduction of the company&#8217;s carbon footprint.<\/p>\n\n<p>Amazon&#8217;s vice president and general manager for Spain, Italy and Portugal, Mariangela Marseglia, detailed the company&#8217;s vision to match global electricity consumption with 100% renewable energy by 2025.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Amazon&#8217;s contribution to renewable energy<\/h2>\n\n<p>Amazon&#8217;s photovoltaic and wind initiatives in Spain have attracted considerable investment, estimated at<strong> 670 million euros<\/strong>. This investment strengthens the country&#8217;s energy infrastructure and improves the economic impact, contributing more than 243 million euros to the local Gross Domestic Product (GDP).<\/p>\n\n<p>From 2014 to 2022, the company&#8217;s renewable energy projects in Europe have generated an investment of more than $2.6 billion.
