Presently, they are actively engaged in overseeing three distinct projects for major corporations across America.

The first project entails collaboration with the most current and advanced plate mill in America, where Equipcon has successfully commissioned Nordinkraft’s’ Nordiscan-PL #4300-WLT, a fully automated and integrated to the production line ultrasonic inspection system, for detecting laminations using Nordinkraft’s patented Phase Array designs as well as vertical cracks utilizing shear waves. Inspecting plates from ¼” thickness up to 5” thickness without any manual changes being required. The integration involves only communication with the Danieli line for product ID and Thickness value. The Nordiscan PL-4300-WLT automatically normalizes, applies DAC, self-calibrates on every plate, and inspects longitudinal and transversal edges in addition to the full body of the plate, providing a detailed C-Scan image and automatic pass/fail disposition based on the code applied by the customer’s PO. If a plate cannot meet the requirements of the code applied, Nordiscan will reapply other codes to allow a downgrading disposition to assist in reallocating the product to less stringent requirements without needing to re-scan.

In a separate project, Equipcon Group’s manufacturing division collaborated with a major aerospace engine manufacturer by designing and providing the FPI-G100, a fully automated water-washable FPI line. This gantry-style system, designed for inspecting blades, veins, and BOAs (blade outer air seals), represents a groundbreaking advancement. The FPI-G100 is the first automated FPI system to eliminate any manual penetrant rinsing efforts. With this innovation, operators can simply load parts into a basket and initiate the entire FPI process with the simple press of a button, streamlining operations significantly.

The FPI system contains a total of 8 stations, each serving a specific function within the inspection process. The stations, in sequential order, include load, penetrant dip, dwell, immersion pre-rinse, spray rinse, dry, developer, and unload. This comprehensive setup ensures that the tested parts undergo a thorough and efficient inspection cycle with no inspector intervention. In this cellular manufacturing plant, inspectors have multiple responsibilities, and our FPI-G100 allows the inspector to perform other functions while reassigning a second inspector to other process needs instead of FPI processing.

In the third project, Equipcon Group is collaborating with a steel plate mill located in Texas. This company has just ordered a Nordinkraft Rider UT Cart for detecting laminations using their patented phased array sensor design, which utilizes shear wave sensors to detect vertical cracks. The system also has the capacity for hard spot inspection using NK’s proprietary PEC sensors, which are not sensitive to scale or residual magnetic fields.

The Rider Cart is a manually operated push trolley designed for inspecting plates and slabs using either ultrasonic waves or eddy current probes. This versatile cart is capable of detecting cracks on both surfaces and internal defects by reflecting ultrasonic shear waves at approximately 45 degrees to the surface. Equipped with an industrial laptop, users can conveniently assess the quality of materials being tested during inspections with similar sensitivity to Nordinkraft’s online and offline scanning systems.

The Equipcon Group looks forward to sharing more upcoming projects in the future and welcomes inquiries for help with the most difficult NDT problems using our innovative and solutions-based approach for all customer’s needs.

Don’t miss any of our posts and follow us on social media!

Inspenet.com YouTube LinkedIn Facebook Instagram

Source: Equipcon

Presently, they are actively engaged in overseeing three distinct projects for major corporations across America.

[13028,13052

post-152610","noticias","type-noticias","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","categoria_noticias-mechanical-integrity","categoria_noticias-ndt
["GET
