Lilium, a company in the development of electric vehicles (eVTOL), has unveiled the acquisition of the first batch of Garmin instruments <\/strong>for emergency flight and other related aeronautics technologies.<\/p>\n\n

The future of Lilium eVTOLs<\/h2>\n\n

These components will be installed on the first Lilium Jet models<\/strong> currently in production as well as on the company’s flight simulator for pilot training.<\/p>\n\n

From a technical standpoint, backup flight instruments are intended to function as secondary systems within the cockpit, providing a backup in the unlikely event of failure of the main aviation systems<\/strong>. Such equipment performs critical functions and provides indispensable additional safety for both crew and passengers.<\/p>\n\n

This integration of backup systems is an essential security measure. All this in order to achieve dual Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)<\/strong> and European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA)<\/strong> certification for Lilium<\/strong>. The equipment provided by Garmin is used in thousands of certified aircraft and its incorporation into the Lilium Jet will ensure operational synergy with the aircraft’s flight control computer. \n flight control computer of the aircraft<\/a>\n<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

The Garmin device<\/strong> will provide vital information from inertial sensors, such as aircraft attitude and acceleration, and provide additional outputs for the flight control system<\/strong>. In addition, it will have a modern touch screen that will operate independently from the main avionics system, thus enhancing the autonomy and safety of the flight team.<\/p>\n\n

Martin Schuebel, senior vice president of procurement at Lilium, expressed his satisfaction with this collaboration: “The partnership with Garmin, the result of a rigorous evaluation process, reflects our commitment to excellence and safety. These first deliveries validate our strategy of partnering with experienced aerospace leaders in certified and safe technologies.”<\/p>\n\n

For his part, Carl Wolf, vice president of aviation sales and marketing at Garmin, expressed his pride in contributing to the certification and commissioning process of the Lilium Jet: “It is gratifying to support Lilium in this significant project. Our focus on innovation and commitment to safety enables us to deliver solutions that enhance the capabilities of eVTOLs.”<\/p>\n\n

The assembly of the first \n Lilium Jet<\/a>\n<\/strong> began in late 2023 at the company’s facility near Munich, and the first piloted test flight is expected to take place in late 2024.<\/p>\n\n
