The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) recently authorized flight testing of the Pathfinder combination-wing aircraft designed by JetZero<\/strong>, a Long Beach-based company. This model, which has capacity to accommodate 250 passengers<\/strong>The B-2 bomber, inspired by the design of the U.S. Air Force’s B-2 bomber, has an impressive range of 5,754 miles on a single fill-up of its fuel tank, surpassing standard commercial aircraft with a range of up to 4,000 miles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pathfinder’s design aims to halve fuel consumption and emissions<\/strong> emissions compared to traditional aircraft, which represents a significant advance given the recent complications faced by Boeing, the leading U.S. commercial aircraft supplier, which has spurred the search for more efficient and safer alternatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

JetZero<\/a><\/strong> received approval to begin construction of a full-scale model of Pathfinder and proceed with flight testing, thanks to a 235 million investment<\/strong> by the U.S. Air Force last year, with the goal of developing a commercial version by 2027.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although the current prototype is considerably smaller, it is anticipated that the final version will maintain a futuristic design, making it a blended-winged aircraft (BWB), a configuration that eliminates the distinction between the wings and the body of the aircraft, favored by military forces due to its aerodynamic advantages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
