Chevron, a U.S. energy giant, has finalized an agreement to hire and lease its first hybrid electric tanker to its fleet<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

This ship is intended to supply fuel to other vessels, operated by V-Bunkers, a specialized bunker subsidiary of Vitol, a Singapore-based energy and commodities firm.<\/p>\n\n

First hybrid electric tanker initiative<\/h2>\n\n

With the arrival in Singapore of Chevron’s innovative hybrid electric barge, which was acquired and is managed by V-Bunkers<\/strong>. Since its arrival off Singapore’s shores last summer, the vessel has been engaged in providing Chevron fuel<\/strong>to a wide range of maritime customers in the region.<\/p>\n\n

The expectation for this hybrid tanker is remarkable, because its fuel consumption is expected to be approximately 20% lower than that of traditional tankers.
