ClassNK, the prestigious classification society, has awarded its recognized “SCCS-Full” notation to “EVER TOP”<\/strong>, a Neopanamax container vessel belonging to the EVERGREEN fleet. This distinction makes “EVER TOP” the first vessel in its class worldwide to be equipped with a CCS<\/strong> system on board<\/strong><\/strong>, marking a milestone in the maritime industry for its proactive approach to sustainability.<\/p>\n\n

About the CCS system on board<\/h2>\n\n

The CCS system, the brainchild of the Shanghai Marine Diesel Engine Research Institute, was meticulously installed at the Huarun Dadong Dockyard Co., Ltd.<\/p>\n\n

ClassNK conducted a rigorous review of the system components and installation plan based on its comprehensive “Guidelines for On-Board CO\u2082 Capture and Storage Systems.” In addition, risk identification through the HAZID process and the on-site installation procedure were meticulously evaluated.<\/p>\n\n

After verification of compliance with the relevant requirements, the innovative “SCCS-Full”<\/strong> label was officially assigned to the vessel<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

The installation of CO\u2082 capture and storage systems on ships<\/strong> represents a significant step forward towards reducing the carbon footprint of the \n maritime sector<\/a>\n<\/strong> and also poses new challenges and opportunities in the field of research and development.<\/p>\n\n
