On March 15, it was announced that Dolphin Drilling, an offshore drilling contractor, will \n offshore drilling contractor<\/a>\n<\/strong>has been awarded a drilling contract valued at US$154 million with Oil India. This is intended for use with the Blackford Dolphin platform<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

Under the terms set forth in the definitive contract, Dolphin Drilling will deploy the Blackford Dolphin semi-submersible drilling rig<\/strong> to support Oil India’s exploration and development activities, with operations expected to commence in the second half of 2024.<\/p>\n\n

This agreement is a follow-up to the Letter of Award that Dolphin Drilling signed with Oil India in October 2023.<\/p>\n\n

The contract covers a three-well drilling campaign with a firm duration of 14 months, representing a firm value of $154 million <\/strong>for the rig and associated services, plus an optional seven-month period.<\/p>\n\n

It is important to note that the Blackford Dolphin platform<\/strong>, built in 1974 and undergoing major upgrades in 2008, is capable of operating in water depths of up to 1,829 meters and reaching maximum drilling depths of 9,144 meters.<\/p>\n\n
