This <strong>tidal power project<\/strong>, known as <strong>Mersey Tidal Power<\/strong>, is shaping up to be the largest tidal range scheme globally, with the capacity to <strong>supply electricity to more than one million homes for more than 120 years<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mersey Tidal Power: a tidal energy mega-project<\/h2>\n\n<p><strong> Mersey Tidal Power<\/strong>&#8216;s dam-like design would act as a barrier between the Irish Sea and a tidal basin. It would be equipped with turbines to take advantage of one of the largest tidal ranges in the UK, allowing power generation in both directions of tidal flow.<\/p>\n\n<p>This project would connect Liverpool to the Wirral peninsula, potentially providing a new pedestrian and cycling link across the Mersey, as well as serving as a future flood defence.<\/p>\n\n<p>Currently, the multi-million dollar project is in <strong>Phase 3 of conceptual development<\/strong> and is about to move into the formal planning stage.
