This will remain in the area until early October, according to the report provided by Vineyard Wind, which is a joint venture between Avangrid and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP).

To provide support for cable laying activities on different lines, the support ship C-PIONEER will be present. In addition, the support ship ADHEMAR DE SAINT-VENANT will be in charge of carrying out the trenching and burying of the cables.

Likewise, the F/V SEAFARER vessel will play a crucial role as a security vessel, monitoring traffic and facilitating the safe navigation of fishing vessels, pleasure craft and others moving around the work areas and project vessels.

In collaboration, Jan De Nul and JDR, which is owned by the TFKable Group, will supply approximately 210 km of 66 kV cables. These will serve to connect the project’s 62 GE Haliade-X turbines and transport electricity to a substation located offshore, from where it will be transmitted to the electrical grid.

It should be noted that the electricity generated at the offshore substation will subsequently be transferred to land via an export cable supplied by Prysmian.

About Vineyard Wind 1 Offshore Wind Farm

The Vineyard Wind 1 offshore wind farm, with a capacity of 800 MW, is located approximately 24 kilometers (15 miles) off the coast of Martha’s Vineyard and is the first commercial-scale offshore wind farm to be authorized for construction in USA.

Once fully operational by mid-2024, it is anticipated to produce electricity to power more than 400,000 homes and businesses in the state of Massachusetts.

Additionally, it is expected to create 3,600 full-time jobs, save consumers $1.4 billion over the first 20 years of operation, and reduce carbon emissions by more than 1.6 million metric tons annually. This is equivalent to removing approximately 325,000 cars from the roads each year, according to information previously provided by Avangrid and CIP.

Source and photo: https://www.worldenergytrade.com/energias-alternativas/energia-eolica/comienza-el-tendido-de-cables-en-el-primer-parque-eolico-marino-americana-a-gran- scale

Inspenet, September 21, 2023.
Operations to install interconnection cables are about to begin at the Vineyard Wind 1 offshore wind farm, which is located in the United States and has a capacity of 800 MW.
