The Houston, Texas-based company specializes in <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/articulo\/zinc-anodes-in-cathodic-protection\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">cathodic protection<\/a>, corrosion control, and material monitoring<\/strong>, with key projects in <strong>Brunei, Malaysia, Nigeria, and the U.S.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>We are culturally sensitive, so if we go to a country in Africa or Latin America we don&#8217;t cause a problem. [&#8230;] And that&#8217;s part of the problem, if you can develop a relationship with some people in a company then you both can get the job done correctly.<\/p>\n<cite>Jerry Brown.<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The company not only specializes in <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/articulo\/prevention-and-mitigation-of-corrosion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">corrosion prevention<\/a><\/strong> but in <strong>early detection using advanced technologies<\/strong>. Currently, it is collaborating with partners in Lithuania on bacteria detection, a key factor in the deterioration of critical infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Matagorda Bay: A severe corrosion case<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>During the interview, Brown also shared an alarming case that underscores the importance of corrosion protection. In Matagorda Bay, Texas, <strong>a wellhead in the Gulf of Mexico suffered such severe corrosion<\/strong> that it could not be salvaged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>The worst case of corrosion I&#8217;ve ever seen is right here in the United States, and there&#8217;s a picture behind you right there of a typical wellhead in Matagorda Bay just over in South Texas on in the Gulf of Mexico.<\/p>\n<cite>Jerry Brown.<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>In the United States, the Department of Transportation is responsible for all pipelines and things of that nature, and they said there has to be cathodic protection put on that wellhead even though it&#8217;s not producing.
