The oil industry faces serious corrosion problems at the production well level, due to the exploitation of deep wells with high CO2 content, which causes severe damage to the production pipes and wellheads. The inadequate use of corrosion inhibitors to mitigate this damage translates into large unprofitable investments for the oil industry, due to their use without knowing the operational parameters under which they can be used to control CO2 corrosion.

Due to the toxicity of the substances traditionally used as inhibitors of the corrosive process, there is a growing interest in the development of a series of investigations aimed at exploring efficient, economical and environmentally friendly inhibitors.

The objective of this work is to study the behavior of carbon steel P-110 at conditions of temperature and partial pressure of CO2 at the bottom of the production well, to determine the operational conditions under which this steel can be used with and without an inhibitor. .
