The Minister of Mines and Energy of Colombia, Diego Mesa Puyo, revealed that this week the regulatory decree for hydrogen in the country will be definitively issued, which is expressed in two articles of the 2021 Energy Transition Law ( Law 2099).

According to the official, this regulation gives the guidelines for the production and supply of hydrogen in the national market; The steps to follow for the export of hydrogen will also be prepared.

“We created a registry, we work on certification of origin standards that is so important to determine which hydrogen is zero and low emissions. In addition, throughout the preparation of this document we have the support of the German government, through its GIZ Cooperation Agency, and the United States Cooperation Agency (Usaid)”, Minister Mesa specified.

Meanwhile, the head of the Colombian Mines and Energy portfolio reported that, after announcing the opening of the call for proposals for the Fund for Non-Conventional Energies and Efficient Energy Management (Fenoge), which seeks to finance projects in a state of pre-feasibility and feasibility of zero and low-emission hydrogen, the call to which more than 58 initiatives were submitted has been closed.

Ten have been chosen that will be in different parts of the country in the department of La Guajira, Atlántico, Antioquia, Risaralda, Valle del Cauca.

“Of the ten, the University of Antioquia, the TW Solar Group, H 2 Andes, among others, stand out. There will be more than 6,500 million dollars that will finance these projects and it is the first time that the call has been launched, with good influx”, confirmed Mesa Puyo at the signing of the agreement between Ecopetrol and Toyota to start hydrogen mobility tests.
