Inspenet, the professional knowledge and connection network, was at the Mechanical Integrity and Inspection Summit 2022 hosted by the American Petroleum Institute (API) in San Antonio, Texas and exclusively interviewed Dr. Charles Becht IV, PhD. CEO of Becht, one of the exhibiting companies.

Dr. Becht, a member of ASME, past president of ASME B31.3, Process Piping Code and 2014 J Hall Taylor Medal winner, is a recognized authority on pressure vessels, piping, expansion joints and elevated temperature design. He has over 40 years of experience in design, design review, analysis, verification, mechanical integrity, development, troubleshooting and failure analysis. He has developed new components, design methods and code rules for severe service and other applications. He has more than 60 publications, including two books (on B31.3 and B31.1 pipelines) and seven patents. He is CEO of Becht, CEO of Helidex and Chairman of Becht Industrial Group.

“At Becht, we are continuously developing new technologies, for example, we developed innovative coker reactors, (…) we developed a model for high temperature thermal cracking of crude oil, unique in the industry, and we are looking at a new RBI (Risk Based Inspection) program for tanks, that will allow operators, including midstream and downstream, to properly schedule their tank inspections,” explained Dr. Becht.
